We would like to help you Support the San Francisco 49ers in person. The place we would recommend checking out for to get those hard to get tickets is: Prime Tickets. Yes everyone likes to see a winning team, but going to the game is really more about “BEING THERE”. Did your parents ever take you to a live professional football game? Did you ever take your kids? You know there is nothing better than being there!
Named after the famous 1849 California Gold Rush prospectors, the San Francisco 49ers were one of the first professional sports teams on the West Coast. The 49ers were a charter member of the All-American Football conference (AAFC), endorsed by trucking executive Tony Morabito. The most famous game in 49ers history took place on October 27, 1957, against the Chicago Bears. At half-time, the San Francisco 49ers were behind 17-7 to the Bears, when their coach was handed a slip of paper with the words “Tony’s gone,” telling him that their beloved owner Tony Morabito had died due to heart complications during the middle of that game. With tears streaking down their faces, the 49ers went on to win that game, capping off a 14-0 point streak that couldn’t be stopped by the Chicago Bears.
The San Francisco Bay area, despite now having two professional football teams with the Oakland Raiders mere miles away, has played host to a menagerie of world class talent and football glory. The 49ers have had the luxury of playing with fourteen Hall-of-Famers including quarterbacks Joe Montana and Steve Young in addition to running backs Joe Perry and O.J. Simpson. The San Francisco 49ers are tied for the most Super Bowls in a franchise history with five, four of which were in the 1980′s. They are also the only team to win five Super Bowls without ever losing in a Super Bowl competition. In addition to their incredible five Super Bowl Championships, the San Francisco 49ers’ illustrious franchise accomplishments include 17 division championships, 22 playoff appearances, and 12 league championship appearances
2009 season
2009 looks to be the year that the San Francisco 49ers look to get back into the playoffs after an extended drought. The 2008 record of 7-9 did not live up to franchise expectations and by October, Head Coach Mike Nolan was fired and the franchise installed Hall of Famer Mike Singletary as the Interim Head Coach. He finished the season with a positive 5-4 record and was hired on by the franchise with a 4-year $10 million contract
With some more house cleaning, Coach Singletary replaced running back coach Ted Tollner with former 49er Tom Rathman, Vance Singletary (Coach’s nephew) became the Inside Linebacker Coach, Jimmy Raye was placed as the Offensive Coordinator and Mike Johnson as the QB Coach.
The draft produced some players who should make an impact in the future for the 49ers to include their number 1 draft pick (10th overall) Texas Tech WR Michael Crabtree, with their number 3 pick, Alabama RB Glen Coffee and Fresno State TE Bear Pascoe with their number 11 pick.
